Tangdhar, Feb 13 (KNC): On the occasion of World Radio Day, Maj Gen Rakesh Nair, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Vajr Division, visited Rooh-e-Karnah Community Radio, reaffirming the crucial role of grassroots media in empowering and strengthening border communities.
As per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, duringhis interaction with the station’s team, Maj Gen Nair lauded the efforts of the community radio in spreading awareness, promoting local talent, and acting as a bridge between the administration and the people in far-flung areas of Karnah. He described community radio as a powerful platform that amplifies local voices and fosters inclusive development in border regions.
Addressing the growing concern over drug abuse, the GOC issued a firm and unequivocal message against the menace, calling it a grave threat to the youth of Karnah and surrounding areas. He stressed that narcotics not only destroy individuals but also weaken the social fabric of society.
Urging collective vigilance and decisive action against drug peddlers, he emphasized that safeguarding the younger generation is a shared responsibility of families, civil society, and security agencies alike. He called for sustained awareness campaigns and community participation to ensure a drug-free future.
The visit coincided with World Radio Day celebrations, highlighting the transformative role of community-driven media initiatives in remote border belts like Tangdhar. (KNC)
