Ramban, Jan 25 (KNC): After remaining suspended for two consecutive days due to heavy snowfall, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was reopened for traffic on Sunday morning following the completion of road clearance operations, officials said on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, told news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC) that vehicular movement has been restored from both sides and stranded vehicles are being cleared in a phased manner.

“Road clearance was completed during the night, however, traffic could not be allowed due to slippery road conditions. With improvement in conditions this morning, standard vehicles are now being cleared from both sides,” DC Alyas said.

The strategic NH-44 had been closed after fresh snowfall at several stretches along the highway, disrupting traffic and leaving many vehicles stranded.

Authorities said traffic movement is being closely monitored to ensure safety, and commuters have been advised to follow traffic advisories and avoid unnecessary travel until normal flow is fully restored. —(KNC)
