Family from Kangan identifies victim; police coordinating return of body, says SSP Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Nov 16 (KNC): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal, on Sunday confirmed that the family of a Kashmiri labourer approached police after suspecting that their son may have died in the recent Delhi blast.

Speaking to reporters, SSP Poswal as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, “A family from Sumbal-Bala, Kangan relatives of Bilal Ahmad Sangu approached the Kangan Police Station yesterday after seeing a name and some photographs circulating on social media. They informed us that their son had gone to Delhi and had been working there since 2019.”

He said police immediately coordinated with Delhi Police to verify the information. “We tied up with Delhi Police, and they corroborated that a body matching the details is indeed there,” he said.

SSP Poswal said the family has been guided on the necessary legal and procedural steps. “We have provided them the contact number of Kotwali Police Station in Delhi. Since the case is under the NIA, we have also guided them accordingly. Whatever assistance is required from our side will be fully provided,” he added.

He further said that once the identity is fully confirmed and formalities are completed, Ganderbal Police will facilitate bringing the body back home. (KNC)
