Srinagar, Feb 3 (KNC): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that land has been identified and sanctioned for the construction of a Girls Hostel in Srinagar.
Replying to Starred Assembly Question No. 77 tabled by MLA Choudhary Mohammad Akram, the government said that the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, vide Order No. 02-DCS of 2026 dated January 7, 2026, has accorded sanction for the transfer of four kanals of land.
As per the reply, the land falls under Khasra No. 960/437 of estate Rampora Chattabal, Tehsil Central Shalteng, and has been transferred in favour of the Tribal Affairs Department for construction of an ST/G&B Girls Hostel.
However, the government clarified that possession of the allotted land is yet to be taken. It added that once possession is handed over, the matter will be taken up with the Public Works Department (R&B) for preparation of drawings, designs and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of the hostel.
