New Delhi, Nov 11 (KNC): Delhi Police have launched a high-level investigation into the deadly blast near Red Fort, with senior officials confirming that an FIR has been filed and multiple specialised teams are on the ground gathering crucial evidence.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, that the case has been registered at Kotwali Police Station, and teams from Delhi Police, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the National Security Guard (NSG) are jointly examining the scene of the explosion.
He said that post-mortem examinations are underway at LNJP Hospital. Five bodies have been examined so far, while six victims have been identified. Efforts are on to identify the remaining deceased.
At least eight people were killed and many others injured after a car exploded near the historic Red Fort on Monday evening, triggering panic in the area. Several nearby vehicles were damaged as flames spread quickly following the blast.
Earlier, Quoting police sources, ANI reported that investigators have retrieved CCTV footage showing the suspect’s vehicle entering and leaving the parking area alone. Over 100 CCTV clips, including those from toll plazas along the suspected route towards Daryaganj, are being analysed to establish the car’s movement before the incident.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that teams from the NSG, NIA, Delhi Crime Branch, Delhi Special Branch and forensic experts reached the spot within minutes and have begun a detailed investigation. He said all possibilities are being examined, and findings will be shared with the public once confirmed.
The Delhi Fire Services said they received an emergency call about the explosion near Lal Qila Metro Station Gate No. 1 around 7 p.m., after which the area was immediately cordoned off for public safety. (KNC)
